It works

I would rate this as 5 stars for convenience, accuracy, and price. I have to take away a star, however, due to the slow response time. It must be remembered this is a mechanical device, and therefore it takes time for the internal metal spring to respond to the temperature change. If you don't want to wait, you may wish to order a digital readout OVEN thermometer. (NOT an meat thermometer which uses a probe to push into the food).

Functions as expected...

Accurate bought refrigerator and oven models. Impulse prime buy, but don't regret it. Haven't priced these, but paid less than 6 bucks each. Seems worth it.

Large dial is easy to read.

Basic oven thermometer. Each small tick mark is 10 degrees. Checking with a digital oven it was within one of those tick marks which I think is good enough for most applications. Easy to read.

This little guy seems to work well. I bough it to check the calibration of an aging wall oven, and it worked great for that. It is reasonably easy to read and responds fast. Best to put one of the racks at the top position and hang the thermometer from the rack. The base is too small to sit on the rack directly. A little bit bigger base would have made this easier. I would also have preferred just a little bit bigger numbers, as it was a little hard to see when I moved it to the back of the oven to check the corners. For the money this is a good unit.

Works as expected. But I wish there was a latch to lock it where you place it. Sometimes it slides back in the oven.

I haven't baked with it yet but this is a good, standard bimetallic thermometer, very slightly improved over what was available 70 years ago. What's new and clearly better is OXO Good Grips, with its translucent back and dial. Since oven illumination is generally from the rear, that innovation allows far easier reading in a variety of positions. If OXO emphasized celsius better and abandoned their fascination with silicone (for this one item—silicone is great but, seriously, once the problem of backlit thermometers is solved, how often do need to Good Grip it?) I'd have bought that. Hopefully, Rubbermaid will incorporate translucency into future designs (unless new oven lighting schemes obviate its advantage).

A little difficult to read but tested accurate. Great for use in camping oven. Good seller.

Seems accurate. I originally purchase it for a surface grill thermometer, but the temperature exceeds the max on this thermometer. Works well in oven.
